about

The immured anchorite as the inner voyager. Maybe a drug song, or a song for whatever fills that same little niche in the mind. Perhaps music about music: "When you listen to Coil, do you think of music?" Inquiring minds want to know.

The title is, at once, an extension of the lyrical concept, a description of the final section, and a riff on the default title for a surround-sound bounce in Logic. The main chord progression cannot be accurately replicated in the traditional twelve-tone equal temperament system, although quartertones will do in a pinch; the actual tuning used here is extremely rare—a subset of seventy-three notes to the octave—and probably hasn't actually been used anywhere else. Hence, jamming in keys that don't exist all by my lonesome. Fitting.

lyrics

Turn off your television,
turn out the lights;
turn off your better judgement,
welcome the night.
Turn off your television,
and turn out all the lights;
and turn off your better judgement:
Welcome in the night.

Focus:
All you see opens like a blooming lotus.
Focus:
All you see opens before you like the blooming of a lotus.
